Shift Inspection

A visual inspection performed before each work shift to identify obvious deficiencies or damage.

In Detail

Shift inspections (also called pre-shift or daily inspections) are visual checks that must be performed before a crane is used each shift. The operator or designated competent person walks around the crane checking for visible damage, fluid leaks, tire condition, outrigger integrity, wire rope condition, and safety device function. While no written documentation is strictly required by OSHA for shift inspections, best practice — and many company policies — mandate a written record. Digital shift inspection checklists ensure consistency and create an audit trail.

Stop gambling with paper checklists.
